There is the talk of 2020 as the year of electrification. The date in which all (or almost all) manufacturers will make their plug-in prototypes go from being a concept to a reality, but if we take a look at the dates confirmed or estimated by the brands, we see that there are at least seven electric cars that we can drive before 2020.
Hyundai Kona electric
The Hyundai Kona electric is already on sale so it is the one that should open this list.
It is one of the most anticipated electric cars because it promises more than 400 km of autonomy for less than 40,000 euros (with Hyundai discounts, the access version costs 33,000 euros).
The plug-in version of the Hyundai Kona has two versions: one with 99 kW or 135 HP and a range of about 300 kilometers, facilitated by a battery with a capacity of 39.2 kWh; and another more powerful 150 kW or 204 hp that promises to travel up to 470 km with a load thanks to a higher capacity battery (64 kWh).
Kia Niro
The Kia Niro will arrive at dealerships before the end of the year.
Still, have to confirm some interesting data such as the price (although everything indicates that it will move in the same fork as the electric Kona). What Kia has just announced is autonomy.
They say that the European version of the electric Kia Niro will provide a range of up to 485 km with a single charge of its high capacity lithium polymer battery with 64 kWh.
In the urban cycle, the autonomy increases up to 615 km. If so, it will draw colors to more than one combustion model.
Audi e-tron
The first electric Audi is a five-meter-long SUV with 408 hp and a 95 kW battery that gives it up to 400 km of autonomy according to the measurements of the WLTP cycle.
The new Audi e-tron, which can already be pre-booked, will reach the European market by the end of 2018. The price of the Audi e-tron for Spain is 82,400 euros.
Audi will offer the launch edition ‘Audi e-tron edition one’ limited to 2,600 units.
Tesla Model 3
If all goes well and Elon Musk does not read any other … the deliveries of the Tesla Model 3 will begin in the first quarter of 2019.
We have been talking about him for so long, watching photos, videos … it seems that the third Tesla electric car has been on the market for a long time, but for the moment there is only one long waiting list of interested drivers.
The Model 3 is a rear-drive electric car, with 265 hp (they say that the Performance version can reach 475 hp) and 499 km of autonomy.
There are only estimates of the price, but everything points to around 50,000 euros.
Mercedes EQC
The EQC will be the first model in the EQ series of Mercedes, which means ” Electric Intelligence ”, a line that the German company will launch to the market until 2022.
The Mercedes EQC has two electric motors whose maximum torque amounts to 765 Nm and provide a power of 300 KW, about 400 HP of power. The delivery is immediate and achieves an acceleration from 0 to 100 in 5.1 seconds, with a maximum speed of 180 kilometers per hour. The autonomy announced is 450 km.
The Mercedes-Benz EQC will arrive throughout the second half of 2019 at a price that has not been specified.
Honda Urban EV
Yes, although without making as much noise as its competitors, Honda will also have an electric car on sale before 2020.
It is the Honda Urban EV, an urban electric car of small dimensions and design inspired by the first generation Honda Civic.
At the moment there is little data of what will be the first Honda electric car: We know that it will open reserves in 2019 and that deliveries will begin in the last quarter of the year.
VW ID Neo
The expected release where there is one is that of the VW ID Neo (in the absence of official confirmation that this is his name).
The first exponent of the new Volkswagen electric age will be on sale by 2020. Production will begin in November 2019 and VW wants everything to be ready for the first unit to be put into circulation in a few weeks.
Renault ZOE II
While many prepare the first one, at Renault they already work on the second generation of the best-selling electric car in Spain.
The new Renault ZOE will be a reality between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020.
It is speculated that it will grow a little in dimensions to be able to face its main rival, the Nissan Leaf. And that will maintain the three-phase load to 22 kW, adding the CCS Combo.
